The new Nissan NV200 will be seen on the road in UK before coming to Gates Nissan of Richmond in Kentucky. The Nissan van will be tested in real world situations as FedEx delivery vehicles.
The all-electric version of the Nissan truck will be tested in the streets of the crowded city of London for 2 months, for Nissan to evaluate the vehicles' responses. And these are no ordinary vehicles, like Nissan Leaf these FedEx NV vans are all electric vehicles.
The new Nissan EV is replacing the stock driveline "with the electric running gear from the Leaf. Nissan doesn't say if this application has different specs than the Leaf, which has a 107 horsepower/207 pound-feet electric motor, an EPA-estimated 73 miles to a charge, and a charge time of seven hours at a 240-volt outlet."1
All-electric vehicle may certainly be very beneficial to a delivery company, especially in a crowded urban like London. Low speeds will help increase the vehicle's drive range, as well as giving FedEx, and any other companies or private owners, that might come along, tax credit for operating "green" vehicles.Source: 1http://wot.motortrend.com/fedex-begins-testing-an-all-electric-nissan-nv200-in-london-145649.html
