Nissan Gives LEAF Buyers One More Thing to Feel Good About

There's a lot of hype surrounding the Nissan LEAF. And for good reason.  The Nissan LEAF represents the first EV available to consumers on a mass scale. It requires absolutely zero trips to the gas station (unless you're picking up a bottle of windshield wiper fluid or a pack of gum). It doesn't emit so much as a single gram worth of emissions. And it's cute to boot.

Gates Nissan of Richmond, however, has come to realize that many Nissan LEAF buyers are after more than just accumulating substantial savings from the money they won't be spending on fuel. They have a real, vested interested in preserving the world for themselves, their friends, family, peers, and future generations to come.

If you're one of the many eco-conscious drivers from Lexington, Nicholasville and Danville who Gates Nissan of Richmond has talked to about such matters, you'll be very happy to learn that Nissan is now employing a green cargo ship to transport some of its LEAF cars... Called the "Roro" it's Japan's first domestic vessel to have a solar panel array on deck .

The unique integration of solar power alone isn't the only thing that makes the cargo ship eco-friendly, either. To make the ship cut through the water with even greater efficiency, its hull has been finished with a special low-friction coating.

Speaking on the Roro, ship captain, Tamotsu Sato says, "...This carrier is important in many ways... I have no doubt that this ship will be a front runner in the industry."1

What'll Nissan think of next? Stay tuned to find out. Gates Nissan of Richmond, located at 4098 Atwood Drive, Richmond, KY, 40475 can promise it'll be good, especially as the Japanese automaker strives to meet the aggressive goals they've outlined for themselves in Nissan Green Program 2016.
