The entry-level Frontier S comes with 16-inch steel wheels, tinted privacy glass for the rear windows, a locking tailgate, and cargo bed lighting. The SV adds 16-inch alloy wheels, power-adjustable exterior side mirrors, and the option for the Midnight Edition Package, with 18-inch alloy wheels, a black grille and bumpers, and black side steps. You can also get the SV with the Special Edition Package, which adds silver 18-inch wheels, a chrome grille, and body-color rear bumper, or the Value Truck Package, with a spray-in bedliner, a sliding bed extender, fog lights, and a Class IV tow hitch receiver.

The off-road-capable Pro-4X comes with all-terrain tires, off-road shocks, a stronger rear axle, automatic headlights, and roof rails. It also comes with heated side exterior mirrors and skid plates. The new Pro-X trim has LED exterior lighting, one skid plate, and all-terrain tires.

Every Frontier comes with a 3.8-liter V-6 gas engine. It puts out 310 horsepower and 281 pound-feet of torque and uses Nissan's nine-speed automatic transmission. Rear-wheel drive comes with the S and SV, with the option for all-wheel drive, and a full-time four-wheel-drive system comes standard with the Pro-4X.

The V-6 quickly accelerates, getting the Frontier up to highway speeds with little effort. The suspension helps it stay composed around tight corners, and if you have the Pro-4X, it can handle some rough terrain. When equipped with Nissan's optional tow package, the Frontier can tow up to 6,720 pounds.

There's room for up to five in the Frontier with the Crew Cab. A leather-wrapped shift knob comes standard in the S, which also has a tilt steering wheel. The SV adds more options, such as an auto-dimming rearview mirror, dual-zone automatic climate control, and heated front seats as part of the Value Truck Package. The Pro-4X adds some upgrades in the cabin too. It comes with upgraded cloth upholstery, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power-adjustable driver's seat, and heated front seats.

The upgraded infotainment system for the 2022 Frontier now comes with an 8-inch touch screen and has Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility. Two USB ports are in the front row, and a nine-speaker Fender stereo system and a Wi-Fi hot spot are available.

Nissan updated the safety technology for the 2023 Frontier. It now comes standard with forward collision warning, and the Safety Shield 360 suite of driver aids is now available. This group of active safety systems includes a blind-spot monitor, automatic emergency braking, rear cross-traffic alert, lane-departure warning, and rear automatic braking. Nissan makes additional safety features, such as adaptive cruise control, a drowsy driver monitor, and traffic sign recognition, available as options, depending on the trim.
