In order to gain eligibility for this year's CarBuzz awards, vehicles had to be available in 2024 or newer model years, all-new or significantly refreshed, and driven by CarBuzz's test drivers for either a week-long stint or a first-drive event. The vehicle also needed to be below $30,000 to ace the Best Budget Car segment while still offering strong safety features, fuel economy, and utility.

As you can see, the Nissan Kicks easily qualified and stood out in the segment. According to CarBuzz's test drivers, the Kicks looks and feels like an all-new car. It's larger, more spacious, nicer, and has more useful cargo space. However, the Kicks is still agile and easy to maneuver in tight spaces. It also delivers essential safety features like standard blind-spot monitoring and optional ProPilot Assist on the SR model.
